Contrary to other robot mop vacuum vacuums, this one isn't afraid to take on the stairs. Like all mops and vacuums it is susceptible to clogging by particles, like tennis shoes, thread, jewelry, or other loose items.

The iRobot Home App allows you to label rooms and create no-go zones. It also lets you keep track of the progress of your mops as well as battery status.

iRobot Combo j7+

The i5+ runs iRobot OS and gets smarter the more you use it. It creates a Smart Map, which remembers the names of rooms and your preferences for cleaning. You can then direct it to clean a space or set a timer for a whole area of your home using the iRobot app.

iRobot has integrated the ability to recognize household clutter like cords, shoes, toys and bags. It will then stop and return to the docking station, allowing it time to recharge and complete the cleaning task later. It is also compatible with voice commands such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Google Assistant, understanding around 600 voice commands - more than any competing 2-in-1 robot.

It does however have an effective cleaning system and a set of rubber brushes that aren't caught in pet hair. It's a great option for homes that have high-pile carpets since it is able to handle more dirt and debris than less powerful vacuums. The i4 is also less demanding in terms of maintenance requirements, has lower recurring costs and also has a longer time of operation in its least powerful suction mode than the i7.
