For a robotic vacuum with impressive technological capabilities and impressive tech capabilities, the Roborock s7 is an excellent value. The mid-priced model performs just as well as high-end models, and is simple to maintain and use. It also comes with a broad variety of high-end features that are similar to those of robots twice its cost. It's a great choice for those who are first-time buyers, upgrading from an entry level model, and for anyone looking to reduce time cleaning.

This robot is equally at home on bare floors as it is on carpet. Its suction strength of 2,000Pa is enough to withstand thick, heavily-soiled carpeting. It can clean pet hair from cracks and crevices even on floors with no carpet. It's well-built, maneuvers efficiently and can be used with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands for hands-free operation. Its battery is smaller than other models we've tested, but it still has plenty of juice for the majority of homes.

The s7 can also function as a mopping robot. It comes with a 200ml tank filled with water and a mopping pad that can be connected to the robot's back. Just add water and a microfiber fabric and the s7 will automatically begin cleaning your floors. After the mopping is complete the s7 will return to its dock and will shut down automatically.

The app's companion is simple to use and has a sleek layout with lots of functions. You can draw a map of your home, set virtual boundaries that the s7 can't cross, set up zones of no-go areas or simply instruct it to keep a certain room. You can also view its maintenance history, its current status and monitor its performance.

5. Neato Q5 Pro

The Neato Q5 Pro is a multi-purpose robot vacuum that excels at bare floors and cleans up a significant amount of debris on both low and high-pile carpet. It feels impressively well-built, has a broad suite of navigation features and is simple to maintain. It has a shorter maximum battery life and more recurring costs than other units.

The Q5 is among the slowest robots we've tested, but its layout algorithm is reliable and doesn't need any extra attention after the first time it passes through the space. It begins by tracing the perimeter of the space and then fills the interior with parallel lines. When it's done, it returns to its charging station, or the base from which it started away from the base.

It was a master of cleaning hardwood floors and removing at least 88% dirt off each test.
