2. Lehigh County

Lehigh County is the home of numerous large-scale industries including cement manufacturing. A number of the factories in Lehigh County are major sources for harmful air pollutant. In a deal with the EPA Lehigh agreed that it would replace old diesel engines in certain plant locations, and also install pollution control equipment. This would lower emissions by 25 tons per year.

In other legal news The county has settled a case with the relatives of an inmate that passed away following an asthma attack occurred at the county jail. The lawsuit raised questions regarding the jail's policy on Asthma railroad injury treatment.

CROZER CHESTER MEDICAL CENTER located in UPLAND is a hospital providing short-term acute treatment. It is rated 3. The hospital has 665 doctors on its roster of medical professionals. The hospital was established by Crozer Health System in 1963.

It is a leading clinical facility in the region, providing various surgical and medical procedures. It is a school that educates the next generation in medical and health through its undergraduate, residency and fellowship programs.

In January of 2018 an unintentional admission to the Crozer Chester medical center was made to provide emergency mental health care. He was denied the opportunity to consult with his own physician and had no opportunity to speak to his family or friends prior to being taken to the hospital. The lawsuit claims that this violated the plaintiff's constitutional, statutory and state law rights.

The settlement of the lawsuit will address the alleged air pollution violations at the hospital's medical waste incinerator. The hospital will work with the Chester-Upland district school district to implement an Asthma railroad lawsuits awareness and management program in public schools. Statoil Energy Power Inc. is also required to pay a fine of $250,000 as a part of the settlement. Statoil will also employ a registered nurse and asthma manager for the two-year program.

The lawsuit was filed by the family of a student who died from an asthma attack on campus in the year. Adilene Carrasco, who was 13 at the time was walking with her class to a sports field at Mesa View Middle School east of Los Angeles on October 31 for a Halloween "pumpkin throwing contest". She wore an inhaler on the way to the field however, she struggled with breathing problems when she returned. The lawsuit claimed that she was sent back to class with a fellow student without determining whether she was physically fit to do so.

The Yucaipa Calimesa Joint Unified School district has not acknowledged any wrongdoing. However, it has signed a deal with the California School Board Association to adopt the best methods for students with medical ailments. They will also work with pulmonologists to educate staff on how to treat asthma in children. According to Robert Glassman, the lawyer for the family, it will also alter its safety protocol for students who have medical problems.
